To the Lighthouse - a Romantic Getaway

As August draws to an end, we start to think about Autumn and the coming Winter. Not being a winter person I find it lifts my spirits to remember the wonderful times we had during the Summer.

One such occasion that will be remembered for years to come was an overnight stay at ThView from bedroom to Lamp Room, The Lighthouse B&B Llandudnoe Lighthouse Guesthouse on the Great Orme in Llandudno. It is only 5 miles from where we live and in fact we have walked past it many times on our Sunday walks. As a thank you gift for helping her out when her second baby was born our daughter booked us in for one night. I have wanted to stay there for many years and I particularly wanted to go in June - as that is when my birthday is and it is also when you get the longest daylight, and I wanted to stay in the Lamp Room. We eventually managed to book it for a Sunday night at the end of June a whole year later It was definitely worth the wait.

The Dress

Elsie DressI didn't have much time to think about what I was going to wear as we were working in the shop whilst looking after two of our grandchildren for two days until the Sunday lunchtime. So after they had gone I changed into this fabulous dress, which always looks glamorous and sexy, without the effort and discomfort often associated with these attributes. It's a dress that is so good natured, it goes into the washing machine with the rest of the wash and doesn't even need ironing when it's dry - bonus. We have this dress in limited sizes in pink and green on our website and online.

 Good Foundations

High waisted pantsvintage braAs always, carefully thought through underwear is the foundation for any outfit. On this occasion something high waisted so as not to have the dreaded VPL and a bra to enhance the cleavage without stealing the show from the plunge, wrap over neckline of the dress. This vintage set was perfect.

 Finishing Touches

vintage amethyst pendantJewellery was chosen to complement the shape of the neckline, so this vintage amethyst pendant is a favourite of mine. It has matching drop earrings but in the rush to get out the house I forgot to pack them. I opted for bare legs as it was quite a warm evening, but had a pair of seamed hold-ups in my bag just in case. Shoes were a pair of royal blue Allyn Flats which we sell in the shop and I find are elegant at the same time as being comfortable and practical. I suppose if I had been going all out sexy I would have gone for a pair of killer heels!

The Picnic

We had decided that instead of going out to eat in Llandudno, which we could do anytime, we would take advantage of the long evening in our suite and packed a picnic with a bottle of bubbly to enjoy as we watched the ever changing sky and wonderful sunset.

A gorgeous evening to remember forever.
